Dear Music Industry,
Most of my favorite songs are repackaged hits from the 60's and 70's. Words cannot express how much my heart breaks when I realize how unoriginal you are. Don't pretend that you're creating "art" when you're just recycling beats and lyrics that belonged to another generation.

Yeah girl, that's just the way music is. Especially hip-hop, the music and beats just recycle themselves. It's actually quite rare to find a COMPLETELY original beat because even if the whole beat isn't recycled, a portion or two of it might be. It's whatever at this point since it's done so often that people don't even know the beats are old lol. Oh well, it is what it is I guess :/
That GOOD GOOD Blog
Hey Ericka, this is your cuzzo, Paul and I see where you're coming from but I'm gonna have to disagree. Believe it or not, sample is just as much of an art as making original music. In Hip Hop, there's a lot of researching old records, finding that one peice to sample, chopping, slowing, speeding up, etc. AND you've got your drums and that's a whole nother thing. There's layers, you know. Like, I wouldn't call a fashion designer un-original just because she went to her local thrift store, found a great peice, cut it up, and made something totally great out of it un-original, so I like to look at hip hop the same way, you know.
Interesting point of view!
